World Market Center Las Vegas’ Gift+Home show announced that it continues to build momentum with a variety of special events planned for the Summer 2011 Las Vegas Market, Aug. 1-5, including its inaugural Gift for Life charity reception “Up on the Roof.”

Taking place on Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. in the SkyView Terrace on the 16th floor of Building B, the “Up on the Roof” charity event will bring together industry leaders and gift attendees for an evening of cocktails, appetizers, live music and prizes, all set against a breathtaking view of the glittering Las Vegas skyline. Gift for Life is a partnership between the gift and home industries to raise funds in support of AIDS research and education.  All monies raised benefit DIFFA.  This debut event is sponsored by World Market Center Las Vegas, Gift+Home and the Gift & Home Trade Association. Tickets are only $20 each and are available for purchase at https://www.diffa.org/buy_tickets.asp?id=76.

Also new to the August Gift+Home show will be keynote speaker Cinda Baxter, a self-proclaimed “retail enabler” who will discuss the  3/50 Project – a movement born out of a blog post before exploding internationally – in her exclusive seminar “It Takes a Village.” The project aims to reconnect local merchants and consumers with its positive, effective messaging by encouraging patronage of locally owned, independent retailers. The seminar will be Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. in World Forum on the 16th floor of Building B.

“World Market Center Las Vegas’ Gift+Home show has quickly become the West’s premier destination for the industry and we are pleased to once again offer an expanded line-up of special events, seminars and features for attendees,” said Robert Maricich, chief executive officer of International Market Centers, parent company of World Market Center Las Vegas. “Offering this type of exclusive programming adds just one more incentive for gift buyers to attend the Summer 2011 Las Vegas Market.”

In addition to the centerpiece events, Gift+Home attendees will be encouraged to take part in a variety of other special events and programs throughout the week, all of which are complimentary.
