Designer Julie Browning
Julie Browning Bova, a well-respected interior designer, will introduce her latest designs for the “Julie Browning Bova Home Collection” during the High Point Market this October. While the new items do feature some popular product expansions, a majority of the fall debuts are equestrian-inspired and utilize numerous symbolic fabrics and colorways. With the unveiling of these new items, Bova’s Home Collection boasts approximately 40 pieces. The latest introductions, along with highlighted bestsellers from April 2011, will be shown in Stanford Furniture’s High Point showroom, 435 North Wrenn Street, October 22 – 29, 2011. Stanford Furniture is known a producer of fine home furnishings and custom upholstery.
“We look forward to showing the second installment of the very well-received Julie Browning Bova Home Collection for Stanford Furniture,” says Randy Short, president of Stanford Furniture. “This season, the collection is very warm and shown in a comfortable, cozy setting."
“Much of my inspiration came from the traditional equestrian color palette, which is derived from hunting traditions and attire, including the brilliant red, wool hunting jackets, leather
accessories, and metal horse bits,” says Bova. Many of the debuting furniture pieces are the latest editions of alreadyestablished products, and imitate these looks by utilizing assorted fabrics, like wools, plaids and mohair, in three colorways, red, brown and camel.
One of the refinished pieces is the Harley Chair, which will be showcased in a rich leather, like that of a saddle. The club style chair is classic and handsome, featuring tack detail on the arms and her signature horse bit detail on the back, like the original. This design approach offers a very different take from initial chair, a feminine slip-covered version.
The self-titled Julie Chair, which was also introduced in April, fully embraces the mood of the fall collection, as the original pink chair will now be available in a scarlet red.
To help complete the entire look of a room, Bova is also introducing several new mirror designs this fall, including Grandview, Cameroon, Foxhounds and Welbourne.
The The Grandview mirror combines her love of the outdoors and the equine lifestyle, with its finely detailed carved bits.
While drastically different, the Cameroon Mirror, a Trumeau-esque piece, is designed with a quilted pattern that is incredibly striking. It is intricate enough for a statement in haute couture, but, if one looks closely, it can also emulate a simple saddle pad. The mirror’s signature carved geometric pattern is reflective of the quilting on the back of the Supper Chair.
The mix of the quilted navy silk backing, red wool front and saddle leather seat, make a very inviting, and typically formal fabric, comfortable enough to pull up to the kitchen hearth.
“The Meg Chair was the best selling, new introduction ever at Stanford furniture, regardless of the economic conditions," says Short.
With the interest in the Meg Chair, Bova decided to create a Meg Ottoman to complement the
popular wing chair. “I am all about comfort and it seemed like the perfect addition to add to the collection,” says Bova. She also designed the camel-colored, wool Duchess Bench, featuring the same design aesthetic as the chair. The bench is ideal for enhancing any space, even a mud room.
“My designs are something that come from the heart and are very personal to me. So, I’m incredibly proud of them and look forward to sharing the fall collection with everyone,” says Bova.
As part of the new product launch, Bova will be on hand in the Stanford showroom, to meet and greet with show attendees, starting Friday, October 21st. In addition, Bova is recognizing, and wishes to thank, Indiana’s own Vera Bradley for the designer’s donation and contributions to breast cancer research. To mark this important causerelated month during Market, Bova is hosting a giveaway featuring products from Vera Bradley.
