  1. is meaningfully involved when associates must deal with upset and distraught customers.
  2. supports your associate when his/her intent is proper.
  3. shares that emotional responses are destructive.
  4. listens attentively before responding and presenting your thoughts.
  5. allows time to diffuse the “emotion of the moment”, when possible.
  6. strives to bring balance to the equation.
  7. remembers that for every dollar you spend to retain an existing account, you spend $5 - $10 to solicit a new account.
