Thomasville Furniture Industries is adopting a new online imaging technology to showcase its home furnishings and cabinetry on the web. The new technology, ZoomView, developed by Viewpoint Corporation, will allow consumers to view Thomasville furniture collections and cabinetry on its websites in far greater detail than in the past. Thomasville Furniture is among the first in the home furnishings industry to use the new digital technology. The addition of ZoomView is part of Thomasville’s initiative of upgrading its website for greater consumer convenience and service. Thomasville will first introduce the new technology on its Thomasville Cabinetry site, which showcases its collection of high quality, semi-custom cabinetry available exclusively through The Home Depot. Visitors can browse the wide variety of kitchen, bath, home office and home entertainment cabinetry styles, and virtually drill deeply into each image to see molding detail, wood grain and accents, such as glass doors and decorative hardware, an experience simply not available using traditional JPEG images. Chris Pfaff, President and Chief Executive Officer, Thomasville Furniture Industries, said the company’s use of ZoomView is part of the their commitment to enhance the Thomasville shopping experience. "As an industry innovator, Thomasville is committed to offering its customers not only the most up-to-date home furnishings options, but also the most convenient and pleasurable shopping experience," Pfaff said. "For those who enjoy the convenience of shopping online, Viewpoint provides crisp, detailed images, giving our customers the truest virtual vision of our finely crafted home furnishings." "Viewpoint’s technology allows us to use our digital images in a manner consistent with our other marketing efforts," said Leslie Morgan, eBusiness Manager for Thomasville. "It’s easy to use, and our online consumers will have a significantly more productive browsing experience. Now they can virtually examine our collections in great detail and at their leisure, as if they were walking through these showrooms themselves." "These collections are a great example of how companies can, in a narrowband environment, repurpose existing high-resolution digital images on the Internet in a meaningful way," commented Chris Robin, a Director of Business Development for Viewpoint.
