The Ernest Hemingway Collection® by Thomasville has been awarded the Licensing Industry’s highest honor, the LIMA Licensing Excellence Award. Presented by the International Licensing Merchandisers Association since 1983, the LIMA Award is the industry’s highest recognition of outstanding licensing creativity and performance. "Thomasville is honored to be among the outstanding roster of licensors, agencies, manufacturers and retailers being recognized by LIMA for 2000," said Chris Pfaff, President and CEO of Thomasville. "The award is as much a tribute to Ernest Hemingway’s bold individuality and larger-than-life persona as it is to the furniture collection he inspired, and we are proud that LIMA has recognized Thomasville’s efforts to help preserve this great man’s legacy through our craft." Pfaff said the licensed collection’s sales rose to an outstanding $35 million in its first four months and to more than $100 million for year one, making it the largest launch in company history and one of the most successful new lines in the history of the furniture industry. Coupled with a highly innovative and effective advertising strategy, the line provided a strong halo effect for the Thomasville brand, increasing company sales by 39 percent overall. The Ernest Hemingway Collection® by Thomasville won in the Hard Goods/Furniture category. Thomasville will receive the award at the LIMA Gala and Awards Ceremony June 13, 2001, in New York City.
