Furniture Mart Enterprises, LLC has retained experts in the planning and marketing arena as the company proceeds in building more than 5 million square feet of furniture space in downtown Las Vegas. The company is developing two separate projects which include Furniture Mart of America, a retail home furnishing shopping complex open to the public, and the International Furniture Trade Center, which will showcase the domestic and international wholesale and manufacturing segments of the industry and will be open to the trade only. Most recently, the commercial real estate firm of Grubb & Ellis was retained as part of Furniture Mart of America's leasing team. "We have had a number of local and regional retailers express interest in the project and want to give them the first opportunity to get in to what will be the West Coast's largest mall for home furnishings," said Mike Kammerling, senior retail advisor with Grubb & Ellis. Also hired was Quillin & Co. Advertising and Public Relations, who represents the developer and both projects to the media. The agency will also create a national advertising and marketing program for the mall and its co-op of retailers. Larry Bender, former director of the Redevelopment Agency for the City of Las Vegas, has been hired to assist in the development of public sector funding for the project. Rounding out the team is Greg Borgel, who is serving as a consultant to the group for city planning and entitlement issues. The developer has also commissioned an independent and comprehensive market study that will assess the support for the project within the industry. This study is currently in progress and is being conducted by the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. (Results of the study will be made available to the media upon completion.) For additional press information regarding either project, please contact Dana Pretner at Quillin & Co. 702-862-4800.
