IFDA/NY Circle Of Excellence Awards Honored TV Personality Lynette Jennings

The New York Chapter of the International Furnishings & Design Association held its bi-annual Circle of Excellence Awards on Tuesday, January 30, 2001 with a gala cocktail reception at the Hudson Theater in the Millennium Hotel in New York City. The awards were presented to home furnishings professionals whose achievements have brought them to the forefront of the industry. The Circle of Excellence Awards are presented in five categories: Advertising/Public Relations, Interior Design, Media/Editorial, Product Design & Development and Sales/Marketing Management. This year, IFDA added a Rising Star Award and the Laurel Award which was presented to Lynette Jennings, a professional pioneer in home furnishings with distinguished achievements throughout her career who has brought specific awareness to the industry. Her Lynette Jennings HouseSmart series, a joint venture with The Home Depot is the Discovery Channels highest rated daytime program. Lynette Jennings also serves as a consultant and spokesperson for The Home Depot. The finalists for the Circle of Excellence Awards were: Advertising/Public Relations: Jacqueline Burton, President, Burton Luch Public Relations, Kathleen Cwirko, Senior Vice President Creative Services, WestPoint Stevens and Kate Kelly Smith, Associate Publisher, House Beautiful; Interior Design: Clodagh, Clodagh Design, Beverly Ellsley, Beverly Ellsley Design and Roderick Shade, Roderick N. Shade, Inc.; Media/Editorial: Peggy Kennedy, Editor in Chief, Victoria Magazine, Margaret Russell, Editor in Chief, Elle Décor and Warren Shoulberg, Editor, HFN; Product Design & Development: Malcolm Cooper, Senior Design Director, Imperial Home Décor, Alexander Julian, Principal Alexander Julian At Home and Larry Lazlo, Principal, Larry Lazlo Design; Sales/Marketing/Management: Allison Bilotta, Director of Licensing, Calvin Klein, Inc., Monique Potel, President & CEO, Mascioni, USA and Penny Sikalis, VP/Group Show Manager, George Little Management. The winners are determined by secret ballot of the membership of IFDA/NY. IFDA is the only all industry Association whose members provide services and products to the furnishings and design industry and is the driving force through its programs and services to enhance the professionalism and stature of the industry worldwide.
