ASID and Beacon Hill will present a design certification seminar on Thursday, April 23, 1998. The course is ASID approved. The topic is "Home Offices Today and Beyond" and features Sue Walling, ASID and Laurel Behning, ASID. Laurel Behning, ASID, is president and principal of Laurel Behning Interiors, Inc. She received her Associate Degree in Interior Design from the University of Minnesota in 1980 and is certified by the State of Minnesota. Laurel has served in numerous ASID leadership positions since 1988 including NCIDQ Proctor, Minnesota Chapter President, Midwest Regional Co-Chair, and National Director and Executive Committee on the National Board. Honors and awards include Minnesota Showhouse Designer in 1987/97/98, having been published in Minnesota Home & Design in 1988/89/97 and ASID National Conference Speaker in 1997. Sue Walling, ASID, is president and principal designer for SW Design, Inc. Ms. Walling is a professional member of ASID, currently serving as President of the Minnesota Chapter and Chair-elect of the Chapter Support Team. She is certified by NCDIQ and by the State of Minnesota. She received a Bachelor of Science degree and Associate Degree in Interior Design from the University of Minnesota. Her works have been published six times in "The Designer," an international design publication, "Woman's Day Home Remodeling," "Midwest Home and Design," and "Dental Economics." Her health care projects appear in Medical and Dental Space Planning For the 1990's and Office Design Ideas. Home offices are becoming more of a reality every day for millions of workers. The serve as a center for the family business, a part-time business, or more commonly, as the base for a primary business as corporate America allows executives to move home, away from corporate headquarters. The course will cover such topics as: How can I maximize my client's space for a home office? What are my client's spatial, technological and anthropometrical needs and how do I assess them? How can I keep my clients from making costly mistakes? What products are available that are suitable for the "high-performance" home office? The seminar will be held 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in International Ballroom B, Green Wing, 11th Floor, IHFC®. Course Fee is $30.00 with an optional Box Lunch for $10.00.
