To participate in the award, employees are surveyed by POPULUS, an independent marketing and HR research organization. Employee responses are tabulated and combined to create an Index of Excellence for each of the five dimensions of employee satisfaction, which is then used to select winners and rank the Top 10 organizations in each category. To be considered for an award, each organization must achieve a sufficient level of completed surveys. Winners are recognized based on their size in one of three categories: micro, small and large organizations.
