Decor-Rest Furniture Unveils Condo Living Concept In Las Vegas

Furniture World News Desk on 7/25/2014

This Las Vegas market Decor-Rest Furniture is introducing a new Condo Living Collection aimed at game-changing demographic shifts and the rapidly expanding condominium market.

For more than four decades, Decor-Rest Furniture has produced fine upholstered, North American-made furnishings with a passion for quality, materials, service, customization and design excellence. Based in Toronto, the family-owned and operated company is showing for the first time here, opening the doors to a permanent showroom in Building A, Space 554. The company also maintains permanent showrooms in High Point, N.C. and Toronto, O.N.

For their Las Vegas Market debut, Decor-Rest is unveiling seven condo-sized sofas designed to appeal to young, urban dwellers and downsizing empty nesters that have small spaces and big appetites for great style.

“Our new Condo Living Collection has been created for what we believe is an under-served constituency: Approximately 60 million Americans who live in condominiums and apartments in U.S. cities where land is finite and downtowns have regained cachet,” says Christina Marzilli, chief operating officer of Decor-Rest Furniture. “Indeed, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, one in five homeowners in American cities and suburbs now live in a multi-family property where space is typically at a premium. These consumers need smaller-scale furnishings, and don’t want to sacrifice their sense of style.”

Realtors across the country report that the condominium market is heating up, driven by Millennials, empty-nest Baby Boomers and more people living alone. In fact, the most recent Census data shows that singles make up 28 percent of U.S. households, and in several large cities, including New York, San Francisco, Atlanta and Washington D.C., that figure rises to 40 percent.

Analysts say all three groups are attracted to tight-knit communities and cities where they can both work and socialize. And, at a time when library-sized book collections can be stored on hand-held devices, trends point to more and more Americans who view downsizing as not only doable, but as an economical and eco-friendly solution to rising single-family housing prices. The phenomenon is rapidly changing the way cities grow and homes are built.

Each of the seven upholstered frames, in casual, classic and modern styles, range from 77 inches to 79 inches wide and is available with multiple special order options in fabric and leather. All feature the compelling quality story for which Decor-Rest is known, combining traditional handcrafted expertise coupled with advanced technology.

“Decor-Rest is on the move in the U.S. market, investing heavily in people, technology and our systems to serve leading retailers across the country,” Marzilli says. “We are very excited to present this new collection in Las Vegas and look forward to helping U.S. dealers tap the largely under-served condo living market.”
