Billy Ocean and Little River Band To Play At High Point Market

Stars Under the Stars, the legendary series of events at the High Point Market, is offering two unique nights of entertainment at the Fall Market, October 18 - 23, 2014.

On Saturday, October 18, Center Stage will be transformed into a Caribbean paradise for one of Britain’s biggest recording stars of all time, Billy Ocean. Known for his worldwide, chart-topping hits such as “Caribbean Queen” and “Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Car”, Ocean has sold more than 30 million records over the course of his career. He won a Grammy Award in 1985 for “Best Male R&B Vocal Performance”. In 2008, Ocean released his first album since 1993 and once again embarked on wildly successful European and American tours. His latest album, “Here You Are”, was released in 2013 and brings his total number of albums to eleven.

On Sunday, October 19, Center Stage will go “down under” in welcoming Little River Band, one of Australia’s most significant bands with worldwide albums and CD sales topping 30 million. Formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1975, Little River Band has set a record for having Top 10 hits for six consecutive years; the first band to achieve this mark. Their hit song “Reminiscing” has garnered rare status with over 5 million airplays on American radio, and “Lady” is close behind with over 4 million airplays. Little River Band was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards of 2004.

Doors open for all events at 7:00 p.m. at Center Stage, between the Transportation Terminal and Showplace, and the concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. Please note, doors will open at 6:45 pm for market-goers who have been issued a Buyer pass. Food and drinks are provided to all market-goers with a current Fall Market pass and photo ID*. No one under the age of 15 will be admitted.
