Tupelo Furniture Market Says Hotel Rooms Are Filling Up

Furniture World News Desk on 1/22/2015

Producers of the Tupelo Furniture Market reported that they are encouraging both attendees and exhibitors of the upcoming February 5-8 event to contact the Tupelo office to make sure they can secure hotel accommodations. Pre-registrations for the furniture market have been on par with last February’s show; however, the weather this year has been better in comparison, so the show’s management expects a large turnout.

“We are very pleased with where we are thus far in terms of registrations for the market, and the weather has been very good in this region the last few months, so we expect a good turnout,” said Kevin J. Seddon, president of the furniture market. Seddon went on to explain that the economy has remained steady, the housing market has stabilized, unemployment has dipped and the winter weather has been moderate. This normally is a recipe for success for furniture retailers, and that means many will need to replenish their inventory this spring. As a result, actual market attendance will rise, and hotel space may be at a minimum.

“We have long-standing relationships with all the hotels in the region, and there will be plenty of rooms available,” Seddon said. “But finding a room may be difficult for some. Our staff knows of the availability of hotel rooms in the area at most every hotel. We also have blocks of rooms set aside for our show participants, so we are asking everyone planning an overnight stay during the furniture market to book through us so we can quickly find them a hotel nearby and within driving distance of the facility.”

Anyone needing to reserve a hotel room should call Joyce Collins, the market’s director of housing, as soon as possible. Hotel rooms booked through the Tupelo Furniture Market’s housing department are often less expensive than those booked directly through the hotel.

The Tupelo Furniture Market is one of the oldest and largest national furniture trade events in the United States and is held twice each year at the Tupelo Furniture Market. The market facilities’ 2.5 million square feet will house more than 500 companies showcasing thousands of furniture and accessory products.
