Leggett & Platt® Earns Made In USA Certification

Furniture World News Desk on 3/22/2015

Leggett & Platt® reported that the steel used in its innersprings has earned 100% Made in USA Certified® status.

“For more than 130 years, people have trusted Leggett & Platt innersprings for comfort and support. We’re proud to continue showing our commitment to quality, while supporting American families, jobs and the economy,” said Eric Rhea, President of the Bedding Group at Leggett & Platt.

To designate the steel as Made in USA Certified, the leading third-party verifier of Country of Origin claims traced raw materials back to their sources and examined the entire supply chain. Leggett & Platt’s steel originates in its mill in Sterling, Illinois, where recycled scrap metal is turned into steel rod. That rod is drawn into wire at one of the company’s wire mills and then formed into innersprings.

“Shoppers may not ask about every step of our process, but Made in USA matters to a lot of people. We want our manufacturing and retail partners to be able to tell the story of homegrown products on the sales floor,” said Mark Kinsley, Staff VP Marketing for the Bedding Group.

As mattress shoppers enter retail stores, they may see Made in USA Certified hang-tags showing exactly which products earned the designation. To learn more, visit www.ComfortToTheCore.com/USA.
