Legends Furniture Celebrates 25 Years of Growth

Legends Furniture announced that it will host a 25th anniversary celebration during the upcoming High Point show on Saturday, October 17th at 5:30 PM. Held at their Furniture Plaza showroom (FP-215), the event will feature food, adult beverages, live music and Karaoke.
Legends Furniture was founded in Phoenix Arizona by Rick Schmidgall in 1990 in about 1,000 sq. ft. of leased space, building one piece at a time.
“His reputation for quality, value and integrity soon spread and he was off and running,” notes Tim Donk, Director of Marketing for Legends. “His slow growth philosophy and superhuman ability to tell larger customers ‘no, we’re not quite ready yet,' served him well.
“As the business grew, he began to build a world class collection of production, back office, sales and customer service professionals, all of which share in his entrepreneurial vision and customer first thinking. Most of his original employees are still part of the Legends family. To this day, Legends is still a debt free company and we have realized growth for 25 consecutive years.”

Legends has moved several times in its first 15 years, most recently to a brand new, state-of-the-art, 140,000 sq. foot facility on 26 acres.
The company launched its Import division in 2001 at a time when many domestic manufacturers were closing down due to all the import activity at the time. “Legends began importing to augment its domestic business, not to replace it,” adds Rick Schmidgall.
“Today, Legends Furniture is poised for significant growth,” he continues. “Our domestic business is booming and our import business is as solid as ever. As predominately a supplier of entertainment and home office furniture, we see a huge opportunity in bedroom, both imported and domestic. We aggressively entered the category in 2013 and now have several, well placed winners under our belt. We are developing a promising portfolio of 'solid value' groups and see big potential for the category.
“With our hub in the Phoenix area, a cross dock facility in LA, a mixable warehouse in Vietnam and our DC in North Carolina, we can get product to our dealers fast, in the way that works best for them. Currently, we are in the process of expanding our Arizona facility, almost doubling our square footage, adding to both production capability and warehouse space. Growth is coming and we’re preparing for it, excited about the future, and ready to take on the next quarter century,” he concludes.
