Leading promotional sales company, Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP), has announced the promotion of Robert (Rob) Rosenberg to President. American Furniture Hall of Fame inductee, Gene Rosenberg and his partner, Paul Cohen, have personally overseen the company since it was founded in 1962. “Fifty three years is long enough, said Gene Rosenberg, it’s time to turn over the reins to a new generation of leadership. Rob’s diverse experience in the industry, as well as his leadership and personal style will continue the success of our company and mission,” Rosenberg added.

Rob Rosenberg started his furniture career at Bob¹s Discount Furniture, a top 15 furniture retail chain co-founded by Gene Rosenberg. After graduating from college, Rosenberg joined PFP, where he initially worked as a sales associate under the direction of many different PFP veteran Event Coordinators. In 2005, Rosenberg took his first management position with the company, managing liquidation, retirement, moving sales and other promotional events for the company. “Rob succeeded in every event he was involved with, no matter the challenge” said Roy Hester, Sr. Vice President of the company. “He excelled in generating sales and profits for our clients, who felt he embodied their core values and as a result, most have stayed in touch with him to this day,” Hester added. Rosenberg went on to successfully inspire and lead his team at some of the largest chain store liquidations ever held in the US, including Rhodes, Levitz, Modernage, Huffman-Koos and Homestead House as well as a number of large independent retailers, including Mazers Home Store, Furniture Warehouse and Sussan’s Furniture.

In addition to his success as an Event Coordinator, Rosenberg has made significant contributions and played an integral part in the development of a number of important initiatives for the company. This includes a proprietary web portal for the PFP team members and PFP clients. The company continues to improve and update its web portal as the retail environment changes. Rosenberg has also been deeply involved in the company¹s powerful web and advertising initiatives. “PFP does it all for our clients, including web site development, web optimization, postal mailings, social media management, unique TV and radio production, all using a national media buyer for the most effective ad results vs. expense,” said Sr. Vice President, Tom Liddell. “With today’s fragmented advertising, all retailers know the importance of this, but with time constraints and required knowledge of the various platforms and technology, few people have the experience or time to do it correctly and completely. Rob’s role has been essential in leading, organizing, training and modernizing PFP to meet these challenges and opportunities,” Liddell added.

Gene Rosenberg and Paul Cohen will stay active in the company, but will leave all day to day management and direction to the senior management team, which, besides Rosenberg, includes Roy Hester (27 years with PFP, 44 in the industry) and Tom Liddell, (6 years with PFP, 41 in the industry). Hester’s initial experience was working in his family’s furniture business prior to joining PFP. In his nearly three decades with PFP, Hester has played an integral role in bringing PFP to the forefront of the promotional sales industry. Liddell has a diverse background, beginning in a family furniture store, then becoming a wholesale sales representative, regional sales manager, VP of National Sales and finally, Executive VP of various furniture manufacturers, all prior to joining PFP. Other key team members include Angela Edwards, JR Diffee (a former PFP client) and Rick Duffey, whom all work directly with PFP clients in a Sr. Consultant capacity.

“I’m very excited about what the future holds for PFP. We have the best team in the industry and I look forward to maintaining the traditions of hard work, integrity and respect for our clients. One of many things Gene has taught me is, ‘we aren’t happy, unless our clients are happy.’ I¹m ready to lead PFP into the future and its new phase of growth and innovation,” said incoming President, Rob Rosenberg.
