W. S. Badcock Corporation, one of the largest privately held furniture retailers in the U.S., announced recently that they are opening a 535,000 square foot regional distribution center in the Callaway South Industrial Park in LaGrange, GA, this month. The occasion was initiated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new facility where company executives, new employees, and community officials, such as Tom Croteau, Deputy Commissioner for the State of Georgia and Jim Thornton, Mayor of the City of LaGrange, among others attended to celebrate the $29 million project with the LaGrange community.

“We are extremely pleased to see this project come to fruition and look forward to it becoming an important component of the LaGrange community,” said Mike Price, President of W.S. Badcock. “On behalf of the company, we want to thank the first employees here today who have done an excellent job helping to open this new center in the busiest part of our season, and they truly bring the finished product to life.”

This state-of-the-art $24 million distribution center is the biggest facility in the furniture chain and will immediately serve 150 retail stores, with the potential to grow up to 200 locations across seven of the eight states where Badcock operates. The new LaGrange facility replaces the Cullman and Thomson distribution centers and will be home to 150 employees.

The project is a result of collaboration between Badcock and the Development Authority of LaGrange, the City of LaGrange and the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

“We knew a family-owned company like Badcock Home Furniture &more would be an excellent addition to the community and will have a positive lasting affect on LaGrange and Troup County,” Tom Croteau, Georgia’s Deputy Commissioner stated. “Thank you to the Badcock Team for your sustained investment in Georgia and congratulations to the local community officials who work so hard everyday to make positive events like this happen.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony concluded with Badcock executives presenting a $2,500 donation to the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Association, as a way to demonstrate their continued investment in the local communities the company serves.
