Global lifestyle company Jaipur Living announced that it has broken ground on its new 180,000-‐ square-‐foot facility in Cherokee County. Commemorating the development of the company’s future headquarters and warehouse space, the ceremonial ground breaking event took place in Acworth, GA on Tuesday morning, August 23, kicking off with remarks from company president Asha Chaudhary and a sneek peak at the building design renderings. Among the attendees were Jaipur Living company executives, and local officials, including members of the Cherokee Office of Economic Development, Cherokee County Development Authority and the Office of the Consulate General of India.

“We stand here today literally on top of our future – the very site that will house Jaipur Living’s new global corporate headquarters and distribution center in Cherokee County – ‘where metro meets the mountains’,” remarked Chaudhary. “We love this phrase given its parallel with our own story, which centers on the intersection of our global business at the doorsteps of our artisans, and truly succeeding together through partnership.”

Chaudhary added: “Jaipur Livings’s story began with two looms in a small community in India, and through our partnership with over 50,000 artisans who are the soul of our brand, our company has since blossomed into one of India’s largest exporters of rugs and textile products. Over these years, we have never lost sight of our roots or the partners who have shared this journey with us – from our artisans to our local Georgia community, where we have planted new roots and are so proud to continue to grow and evolve our brand.”

In addition to Chaudhary’s remarks, select local dignitaries were invited to speak, including:

  • Buzz Ahrens, Chairman, Cherokee County Board of Commissioners
  • DV Singh, Head of Chancery, Consulate General of India
  • Marshall Day, Chairman, Development Authority of Cherokee County

Other participating officials and Jaipur Living brand executives included:

  • Steve Holcomb, Vice Chairman, Development Authority of Cherokee County
  • Misti Martin, President, Cherokee Office of Economic Development
  • Pam Carnes, President, Cherokee Chamber of Commerce
  • Matthew Thomas, Economic Development Manager, City of Canton
  • Archana Chaudhary, Director of Supply Chain, Jaipur Living
  • Ken Taylor, Chief Financial Officer, Jaipur Living
  • Michael Callaghan, Vice President of Sales, Jaipur Living
  • David Wise, Product Development Director, Jaipur Living
  • Wendy Cooley, Director of Customer Service, Jaipur Living
  • Shahrzad Nadizadeh, Director of Marketing, Jaipur Living

Attendees from several of Jaipur Living’s key business partners in the development of the new facility included BB&T Bank, Pattillo Construction, architecture firm Cooper Carry and CPA firm Windham Brannon.

Marking a $22.3 million capital investment, construction has begun on the development and will take place in two phases. The first phase of the project will result in the company’s new 180,000-‐square-‐foot headquarters and distribution center, expected to be complete by summer 2017. Phase two of the development will see the building’s expansion to over 350,000 square feet by 2020. This relocation will bring approximately 100 permanent new jobs to the Cherokee County Community, with the addition of between 10 – 15 jobs annually in the next four years.

“Through this ongoing development, we are proud to be a part of the fabric of this community, and to contribute to the economic development of Cherokee County, the City of Woodstock and the state of Georgia through the creation of new job opportunities and truly competitive wages,” noted Chaudhary.

Currently based in Norcross, GA, Jaipur Living is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of rugs and textiles.
