Lazzaro Leather, a producer of leather seating, accent furniture and handbags based in High Point, N.C., recently announced that they were among a select group of vendors featured in room redesigns revealed Nov. 9 as part of the latest One Room Challenge™ design contest.

Two of Lazzaro Leather’s fashionable Ames sling chairs play a prominent role in the family room redesign undertaken by Suburban B’s, the blogging duo of Tricia Canonico and Erin Hatzis, based in Fort Collins, Colo. Lazzaro’s Ames sling chair combines a distinctive metal frame with a sumptuous seat in top-grain Calvados leather. Design details include double-bar framing, leather pad arms and deep horizontal tufting on the seat and back.

“They’re just as buttery soft and supple as they look online,” wrote Canonico on the team’s blog (www.suburban-bees.com) about the Lazzaro Leather pieces she chose to use in her new family room. “Join me as I ‘oh and ah’ over them for about the hundredth time today.”

The room Canonico created, in partnership with Hatzis, juxtaposes modern and traditional elements using bright colors and classic patterns to create a sense of drama. The team also remodeled two other adjacent rooms for Canonico’s home — a kitchen and breakfast nook.

Now in its 10th season, the One Room Challenge is a biannual design challenge organized by Linda Weinstein of Calling it Home, a leading do-it-yourself blogger with more than 16,000 followers on Pinterest and 7,000 on Instagram. Twice a year in April and October, Calling it Home challenges 20 top designers and design bloggers to transform a room over a six-week period and document the process in a series of weekly online posts. On Nov. 9, at the end of the sixth week, participants made their final reveals to a huge audience of followers on their various blogs and social media channels.

In addition to Suburban B’s, this season’s participating designers included Chris Loves Julia, Coco Kelley, Driven by Decor, From The Right Bank, Hi Sugarplum, House of Jade Interiors, Hunted Interior, Jana Bek Design, Making It Lovely, Marcus Design, Megan Pflug, Pencil & Paper, Place of My Taste, Shannon Claire, Sherry Hart, The Curated House by Sarah Walker, The English Room, The Makerista and Waiting on Martha.

“This is the third year we’ve participated in the challenge, and I’m always inspired by the creativity, enthusiasm and energy of these highly talented designers and bloggers,” said Lauri Cryan, president of Lazzaro Leather. “Once again, they’ve created some amazing new spaces. The new room design that Designing B’s came up with using our Ames sling chairs is a perfect example of how leather furnishings can add zest to any room setting — from traditional to contemporary and everything in between.”

This season — for the second time — House Beautiful magazine provided ongoing coverage of the One Room Challenge through weekly postings at housebeautiful.com as an official media partner. In addition, the One Room Challenge included an active program of online linking between participating designers and design enthusiasts, providing a lively conversation about the room makeovers and a source of ongoing encouragement, support and recognition. To date, more than 1,000 rooms have been transformed through the One Room Challenge.

More about Lazzaro Leather: Lazzaro Leather is the exclusive distributor for the United States, Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica of Guangdong Lazzaro Sunton Leather Goods, a 26-year-old leather tannery and quality furniture manufacturer located in Shunde, China. The frames of Lazzaro's upholstered furniture and other furnishings are constructed of kiln-dried birch hardwood indigenous to the Shunde area that is virtually knot free and bolted for stability. Seats are constructed with a unique dual-seat suspension for enhanced comfort and strength. Lazzaro uses only 100 percent U.S. cow-hide in its tannery — covers that are known for being larger and having fewer defects. Lazzaro offers solid-color leathers with a slight waxy hand for its more contemporary designs as well as vintage antiqued leather finishes for more traditional models. Since the company tans its own hides, it is able to monitor the quality in all facets of the tanning process to ensure consistency as well as quality finishes.
