Henredon Announces The David Kleinberg Collection For April 2018 Launch

Furniture World News Desk on 4/9/2018

Henredon recently announced the launch of its partnership with highly-esteemed New York designer, David Kleinberg at the April 2018 High Point Market. David Kleinberg is one of the most respected names in interior design.

Over a thirty-year career, with projects reaching around the world, Kleinberg has created a body of work that is wide-ranging in style yet always modern in sensibility. Kleinberg and Henredon have collaborated to build a sophisticated collection that is clean-lined and confident. This debut 40-piece collection is comprised of 29 case pieces, 11 upholstery silhouettes, and 6 new lacquer finishes spanning living room, bedroom and dining room.

An early source of inspiration for David Kleinberg in designing his debut collection for Henredon was the work of Italian architects from the 1940’s and 1950’s – Ico Parisi, Ulrich and Osvaldo Borsani to name a few. With this over-riding sensibility in mind, Kleinberg revisited the furniture that had always appealed to him when designing rooms. He enlisted Matthew Bemis, a partner at DKDA to collaborate, and together the two researched old auction catalogues and documents, studying vintage pieces and the designs of furniture makers and architects. Layered in were references to furniture Kleinberg unearthed while shopping throughout Europe.

“Matthew took on the role of hunter/gatherer and together we began the process of editing through images, looking for a coherent group of furniture that spoke to each other and formed our story. The collection we designed for Henredon is based on historic precedence – not invented out of thin air. One could say the collection is slightly rooted in mid-20th century design but not so identifiable to a specific time and place,” says Kleinberg.

Kleinberg is an internationally celebrated designer and author. In 2011, he published TRADITIONAL NOW: INTERIORS BY DAVID KLEINBERG (Monacelli Press), a compendium of more than twenty residential interiors. In the same year he received the honor of being inducted into Interior Design magazine’s “Hall of Fame”. He has also been named to Architectural Digest’s “The New AD 100” as well as Elle Décor magazine’s “A List”, which profiles 25 top designers. In addition, Kleinberg’s work appears regularly in every major design and lifestyle publication, including Galerie, British House & Garden, House Beautiful, ELLE Decor, and VERANDA. Kleinberg serves on the board of the New York School of Interior Design.

“We are thrilled to introduce the David Kleinberg collection this April,” states Reyna Moore, VP of Merchandising and Marketing for Henredon. “This impressive collection fuses iconic style with our rich heritage of producing luxurious furnishings for more than 75 years. It is the perfect match.”

“Designing the David Kleinberg Collection for Henredon in many ways was similar to our process for decorating rooms – inspiration, research, gathering, editing, more editing and collaborating to achieve an end result that everyone feels proud of,” finishes Kleinberg.
