The 46th Canadian Furniture Show, held at The International Centre near Toronto, ended on Sunday after three days of activities which brought together the various players in the industry. Thousands of visitors, notably retailers and designers, attended this annual event, where they met more than 200 exhibitors to discover the latest products and trends, do some networking and conduct business. The exhibitors consulted said their sales were strong, and most of the exhibitors plan to participate in the 2019 Show.

Making way for the latest trends
A Trend Showcase, which was an innovation at this year’s Show, was set up to spotlight an especially innovative selection of products. Linda Mazur of Linda Mazur Design Group, a nationally known designer and columnist in the Toronto Sun and Condo Life Magazine, carefully picked out the most distinctive items being showcased. Ms. Mazur’s selections included items by Trica, Amisco, A-class Upholstery Ltd., Camlen, Huiresource and Renwil.

“The 2018 edition of the Show was entirely conceived in keeping with the objective of showing retailers and designers the latest trends in the furniture industry, in Canada as well as internationally,” said Pierre Richard, the president and CEO of the event.

Best Booth Awards
A jury composed of four professionals in the industry bestowed awards on exhibitors who made exceptional efforts in designing outstanding booths. The jury members included Rosamund Kavander, an interior designer and colour specialist; Vicky Sanderson, a writer and independent collaborator to the Toronto Star, Homes & Condos and Reno & Décor magazine; Martin Slofstra, a Toronto Sun writer and the editor of New Homes and Condos; and Melissa Tossell, an interior designer specializing in residential design.
