Hooker Furniture Warehouse Sale Raises Funds To Benefit Local Community Organizations

Furniture World News Desk on 8/20/2017

Hooker Furniture Corporation, a designer, marketer and importer of casegoods, leather furniture and fabric-upholstered furniture, recently announced that they held a warehouse sale with profits benefitting the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Martinsville-Henry County and the Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge. The sale raised over $31,000, which was split equally between the two charities.

“Giving back to the local communities in which we live and work have long been a part of our company's core values,” said Paul B. Toms, chairman and chief executive officer of Hooker Furniture Corporation. “These values are brought to life through our employees, who are remarkably generous, both monetarily and with their time.”

Hooker Furniture employees as well as the SPCA and the Boys and Girls Club contributed to promoting and helping at the event where Martinsville residents were invited to shop deals on bedroom, dining room, home office, home entertainment, upholstery and other accent pieces.

“It was easy selecting these two organizations to support,” said Marcia Collins of Hooker Furniture, who organized the event for the company. “These groups are two of the hardest working organizations I know. They didn’t just sit back and benefit from the sale, they helped make it happen.”

The proceeds for the SPCA will be used toward animal spaying and neutering services in addition to wellness care, while the earnings for the Boys and Girls club will provide more children with afterschool mentoring programs and summer camps, which focus on social skills, development, math and reading.
