Jordan’s Furniture Awards Employee Bonus of $3300 Each

Jordan’s Furniture’s President/CEO Eliot Tatelman recently announced that full-time employees at the company would each receive a $3300 bonus. The company was told at an event in the Taunton MA Headquarters that was full of theatrics including a drop of 60,000 ping-pong balls 40 feet above and Executive Team members “getting slimed” while seated in Plexiglas containers. The announcement was simulcast live from Taunton MA to all six (6) store locations in Avon MA, Reading MA, Natick MA, Nashua NH, Warwick RI and New Haven CT, so all employees received the news at the same time.
The J-Team gathered in the Taunton MA warehouse area of the Jordan’s Headquarters for this secret announcement. After an introduction of company stats and numbers, all employees were given hardhats and told to look to the ceiling as 60,000 ping-pong balls were dropped on the crowd. The challenge to receive the bonus? The group had 5 minutes to work as a team to put every color-coded ping-pong ball in a like-colored oversized Plexiglas box. There was an Executive Team member in each Plexiglas box as it was filled with the color-coded ping-pong balls. The J-Team rose to the occasion and completed their task successfully…so full-time employees will receive the $3300 bonus. (Eliot admitted that the bonuses would still have been awarded even if the task was not completed. The ping-pong ball challenge was a fun and interactive way to make the announcement.)
This is not the first year that Jordan’s has distributed such a generous bonus. Last year, full-time employees received $3000. Eliot emphasized that the bonus is being awarded because of the extraordinary work and dedication of the Jordan’s employees, NOT because of the recent tax break approved by the government.
