Spectra Home Promotes Trio Of Executives

Furniture World News Desk on 3/16/2018

Following the merger of Palatial Furniture and Spectra Home, the newly formed upholstered furniture powerhouse recently announced that it has promoted a trio of executives to support its expanded business profile.

Dennis Pressley, formerly national sales manager of Palatial has been named national sales manager of Spectra Home. An industry veteran with more than two decades of experience in the furniture business, Pressley began his career at Boyles Furniture in the early ‘90s, gaining experience as a floor salesperson before being promoted to senior store manager. Following his stint at Boyles, Pressley worked as the Carolinas rep for Baker Furniture, eventually joining Palatial Furniture in 2009 as vice president of sales and marketing.

“Dennis’ extensive experience in both better- end retail and manufacturing is ideal to lead the Spectra Home sales team as we move forward,” relates John Hoff, president. “He brings a taste level, demeanor and attention to detail to his new role that is atypical in the middle of the market and the lifestyle category. His skills and in-depth understanding of the needs of independent dealers and the interior design community will be invaluable assets in the continued development and refinement of our knowledgeable and talented sales force.”

As the stationary upholstery division of Shayne International based in Hangzhou China, the new concern consolidates the upscale traditional leather offerings for which Palatial Furniture was long known, with the high-fashion design aesthetic, luxurious comfort and bench-built, eight-way hand-tied upholstery construction story that characterizes Spectra Home.

“The combination of Palatial’s leather product expertise with the spot-on Spectra lifestyle mix enables us to paint with a much broader brushstroke now,” Pressley relates. “I’m very excited about the merger of these two companies because our offerings are exponentially expanding, enabling our combined sales team to open new doors at retail, particularly given our unique special order capabilities.”

With the recent exit of long-time creative force Fred Fahrbach, Greg Curry has been promoted to director of merchandising and product development, while Jeff Braica steps up to the position of sales and marketing coordinator.

An upholstered furniture veteran who has helped numerous independent retailers grow their businesses, Curry briefly served as marketing manager of Spectra Home during the merger’s transition period. He is best known as the founder and former owner of upholstered furniture supplier Engender Furniture, and has served as national sales and merchandise manager for upholstered furniture manufacturer Lloyd’s of Chatham, in addition to working as a sales representative for a variety of leading companies, including Lexington Home Brands, Rowe, Benchcraft, the Alan White Company and Palliser.

Braica, who studied marketing and management at Western Carolina University, brings two decades of experience to his new role as sales and marketing coordinator. He most recently served as a technical sales representative for the wood coatings division of Valspar, and gained sales experience on the floor of Furnitureland South.

“Spectra Home is attracting a world-class team of well-rounded executives whose skills and experience will be great assets as we move forward,” Hoff sums. “Our entire team is energized to offer the industry a powerful new resource for retailers and designers looking to stand out in their marketplaces.”
