Race in High Point Will Benefit Foster Friends of NC

Carolina Rustica, a North Carolina retailer of home furnishings and lighting, announced that it has partnered with one of its primary suppliers, Currey and Company, to enter a sponsored team in the upcoming United Healthcare of the Carolinas North Carolina Marathon.  

The race will start on May 2, 2009 in front of Showplace in High Point, at the end of the High Point International Furniture Market.    “This is a unique opportunity to partner with one of our favorite lighting suppliers and do a little guerilla marketing, all for a great cause”, said Richard Sexton, owner of Carolina Rustica and an avid marathoner.  The team of six will be sporting red jerseys with the Currey logo. 

“We should be pretty noticeable, no matter where we are in the pack!”, says Sexton.  He is also particularly enthusiastic to have local endurance running legend Charlie Engel on the team.  Engel has run across the Sahara Desert, featured in the film “Running the Sahara”.  He also ran across the United States in 2008 and is preparing a documentary about that endeavor.
