Barrington, IL Resident Wins $10,000 At Bay Furniture Store

Rachelle Steencken Apple of Barrington, Ill., received a check for $10,000 this week at Bay Furniture in Lake Zurich, Ill. The 29-year-old was the winner of a national sweepstakes sponsored by Berkline Corporation, a top furniture supplier to the Bay Furniture stores throughout the Chicagoland area. Apple filled out the winning entry at the Lake Zurich Bay Furniture location last month, and on September 30, Ali McHone, director of marketing for Bay Furniture, along with store managers Jay Gershen and David Rosenfeld, congratulated her during a presentation at the store. The sweepstakes was part of a national campaign to raise awareness for the Berkline brand of furniture. Berkline is known for its line of motion furniture, including recliners and sofas. "We're a service-focused company, so we're always interested when someone comes to us with an idea that could benefit our customers," says Rick Slovy, who co-owns Bay Furniture with his brother Larry. "We are very excited for Rachelle. " The Berkline $10,000 sweepstakes ran from August 1-19, with promotions on the company's Web site, HGTV, and in retail stores nationwide. Bay Furniture is Chicagoland's largest Berkline dealer. Founded in 1939, Bay Furniture sells home furnishings from nearly 100 furniture vendors including Berkline, Broyhill, Kincaid, Sealy, Blackhawk and Universal. Bay has six Chicagoland locations, including headquarters and showroom space in Homewood, Ill., and stores in Fox Valley, Lake Zurich, Hoffman Estates and Merrillville, Ind. Bay will open a sixth location this October in Mokena, Ill.
