Ligna combines natural materials with contemporary styling for a look of exotic modernity in its introductions debuting at the fall International Home Furnishings Market. Teak, wicker, and latticework add unexpected texture and a breezy island flavor to several of the new collections. In keeping with the company’s established style direction, the latest designs have a clean, contemporary air that’s also warm and welcoming. “It’s a style that appeals to younger, hipper consumers with more urban tastes,” says Hal McAdams, president. The first of four new Ligna introductions is Antiqua Wicker, a bedroom collection built on the success of the company’s Antiqua collection. In Antiqua Wicker, the reed detailing of the in-line Antiqua designs is replaced by natural wicker. “By adding wicker and giving the pieces a lighter mahogany finish, we’ve created a more casual, tropical look,” says McAdams. A handsome wicker platform bed complements the case pieces. Secondly, Ligna broadens its current Antiqua bedroom assortment with the addition of five occasional items and a grand, statement mirror (54”x78”) that can be hung upright or leaned against a wall for maximum dramatic impact. One of the new cocktail tables has two convenient drawers; the other, a shelf for storage or display. Coordinating end table, console, and open bookcase lend depth to this mahogany collection, which features reed and heavy post detailing and a rich Espresso finish. Ligna’s third new collection, Spectrum, uses latticework accents and mitered joinery to soften the straight geometry of the silhouettes. The bedroom selections are available in two woods: exotic teak with an oil finish and maple in a clear natural finish. Square shaped hardware adds a note of sophistication to the warm, breezy designs. The jewelry-like pulls are finished in burnished bronze on the teak pieces and pewter on the maple cases. For even more flexibility, the latticework bed can be ordered in either a sleigh or platform version. Sundance, a soft contemporary bedroom with country roots, rounds out the Ligna offerings. Restrained moldings and planked detailing accent case doors and bed. Contributing to the group’s “down-home” personality are mahogany woods finished in a tobacco brown and accented with burnished pewter hardware. Ligna Furniture, a contemporary case goods importer, owns factories in Indonesia and provides direct container shipments to customers in the United States, where it has operated for eight years. In addition to bedroom and occasional, the company also provides home office furniture. The Ligna showroom is located on the first floor of the IHFC Main Building, Space M-625.
