Seigo Named Regional Manager For Buxbaum/Century

Joe Seigo has been named regional manager for Buxbaum/Century, specialists in the appraisal and liquidation of industrial equipment and machinery. The Calabasas-based firm is a joint venture between Buxbaum Group and Canada’s Century Services. In this newly created position, Seigo, 39, will be responsible for structuring and executing appraisal and liquidation projects, and directing the joint venture’s day-to-day business in the United States. Seigo, who now resides in Thousand Oaks, CA, was previously a regional manager at Century Services, a leading specialist in industrial equipment appraisals and liquidations, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. During his five years at Century Services, he worked on projects ranging from the complete liquidation of Smoky River Coal, a surface and underground metallurgical coal producer and processor in the Canadian Rockies, to the appraisal of American Fracmaster, an assignment involving some 300 oil well service units on both sides of the border. Prior to joining Century Services in 1997, Seigo spent 15 years in the restaurant industry as a manager of multi-unit operations and turnaround specialist. His background included positions with Humpty’s Family Restaurants based in Calgary, Alberta, and White Spot Restaurants of Vancouver, BC. “Joe’s diverse experience in machinery and equipment appraisals and liquidations makes him uniquely qualified to direct Buxbaum/Century’s operations in the U.S.,” said David Ellis, chief operating officer of Buxbaum Group. “We and our partners at Century created this position in response to growing demand from the asset-based lending community in the U.S. for firms with expertise in this highly specialized field. Having Joe on board in our Calabasas office will allow Buxbaum/Century to more rapidly respond to the needs of an expanding client base.” Buxbaum/Century Services was formed in 2000 to provide machinery and equipment appraisal and auction services for financial institutions and corporations throughout North America. Buxbaum Group, headquartered in Calabasas, provides inventory appraisals, auctions on both fixed and liquid assets, turnaround and crisis management, as well as other consulting services for banks and other financial institutions with retail, industrial, wholesale/distribution and consumer-product manufacturing clients. The firm also provides liquidation services on an equity or consultative basis for consumer-product inventories, machinery and equipment. Additionally, Buxbaum buys and sells consumer-product inventories on a closeout basis.
