GERS Retail Systems Welcomes Rick Hosley As Its Newest Board Member

GERS Retail Systems, a leading supplier of enterprise-wide relational database solutions for the retail industry, announced that Richard (Rick) A. Hosley has been appointed as a new GERS Board Member. Currently a Private Investor and Board Member at BMC Software, Inc. in Houston, Hosley was formerly BMC's President and Chief Executive Officer. He joined BMC Software in 1980 as its Vice President of Sales, the same year the company was founded by John Moores, owner of the San Diego Padres. BMC Software, whose revenues in 1996 were nearly $560 million, develops, markets, and supports data and application management software targeted at IBM database and data communication systems. "Rick is an exceptional executive with years of valuable business experience on several high caliber boards," said Gary Reif, Chairman of the Board of GERS Retail Systems. "Since we are readying ourselves for significant growth and increased market share, we are looking forward to his many contributions and know he will be a valuable asset to our board." Hosley led BMC Software through its successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 1988. Hosley, who has been on several boards during the last seven years, currently serves as a board member at San Diego-based Peregrine Software, SILVON Software and Bindview Development. Additionally, he served as a Marine in Vietnam and is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
