Come October and the Autumn 2001 edition of the popular Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair will take place in New Delhi, India. To be held in an area of 40,000 sq. meters at Pragati Maidan the national exhibition complex, the fair is a showcase of a wide variety of traditional and contemporary Indian Handicrafts. It's the 12th Show in the series of the Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fairs. About 900 leading Indian manufacturers & exporters of handicrafts and gifts will be participating in this event, which will attract a large number of visitors from all over the world. The fair is thus a rare opportunity for buyers to pick and choose from a vast range of handicrafts and gifts, all under on roof. With 70% of the participants as manufacturerexporters, the fair promises to offer exciting opportunities for sourcing the latest products and designs. Display: The product range covers more than 100 categories in four sections : Christmas and floral decorations including eco-friendly products; Houseware, Decoratives and Gifts Items; Fashion Jewellery, Accessories, Bags & Clocks; Home Textiles, Furnishings, Furniture, Floor Coverings & Accessories. The show's special focus is on Indian Textiles with over 200 textile exporters participating in this section. On display at the Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair, Autumn 2001 will be eco-friendly craft materials like Hand-made Paper, Jute, Terracotta, Textiles (using Vegetable Dyes), Dry flowers, Alternative Wood Products, etc. Gift buyers can source many new products, vendors & ideas since many of the participants and their products have never been seen before in fairs outside India. The Autumn show is strategically timed with major Asian Fairs for the visitors convenience -Hong Kong International Gifts Show 22-25 October; Chinese Export Commodities Fair, Guangzhou (Canton Fair) 15-26 October; F.A.M.E., Manila 27-30 October, etc. The Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair is Asia's largest business and trade sourcing event. The Fair has, over the years, given a big boost to the Indian Handicrafts Industry. Both in terms of business generated and the interest taken by the international buyer community in Indian Handicrafts. The Autumn 2001 will play host to leading buyers and their representatives from U.S.A., U.K., Canada , Germany, France, Norway, Spain, Italy, Greece, Netherlands, Portugal, Cyprus, Romania, Israel, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Japan besides other countries of the Middle-East, Scandinavia, Benelux, Latin America etc. The fair is open to trade visitors only. 0rganizers: The Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair, Autumn is being organised by the Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair Committee of the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) under the aegis of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The show is organised by the apex level government trade promotion body -Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) with a membership of 6300 handicraft exporters. EPCH is the apex body which coordinates handicrafts exports from India. It provides comprehensive information to foreign buyers on the entire range of handicrafts of India and liaisons between Indian Handicrafts exporters and foreign buyers. Sponsored by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the council also organises tradeshows, buyerseller meets, conferences and study tours to keep Indian exporters abreast of the latest trends and markets world-wide.
