ASFD 1998 Pinnacle Awards Poster and Entry Forms Distributed; Category Sponsors Announced

The American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) announced that its newly designed Pinnacle Awards poster and entry form has been mailed to furniture manufacturers and designers throughout North America in conjunction with the 1998 Pinnacle Awards design competition. Deadline for entries is September 1, 1998. The poster, designed by Matilda Kirby-Smith of Greensboro, NC includes the Pinnacle entry form as well as details of the awards competition. The Pinnace Award was created in 1996 in order to promote better design quality and encourage the recognition of furniture design within the home furnishings 'industry. Following the judging in early September, the finalists will be notified and the category winners and awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday evening, October 16 at the High Point Country Club. ASFD also announced that seven companies have agreed to sponsor categories 'in the Pinnacle Awards. They are: Hafele America Company, Archdale, NC, for Home Entertainment/ Home Theater; Laminating Materials Association, Hillsdale, NJ, for Occasional and Home Off ice; Leggett & Platt, Inc., Carthage, MO, for Motion Upholstery; Lilly Industries, Inc., High Point, NO, for Bedroom; The October Company, Easthampton, MA, for Formal Dining; Wilsonart International, Decatur, AL, for Casual Dining and UDM Magazine, Des Plaines, IL, for Stationary Upholstery. Hafele, Leggett & Platt, Lilly, The October Company and Wilsonart are corporate members of ASFD. "We are pleased with the support these companies have shown the Pinnacle Awards for 1998" said Pinnacle Awards Chair, Steve Hodges, of Lexington, NC. "This bodes well for our efforts and should make our third Pinnacle Awards competition the most successful yet."
