Join us in our fight to end homelessness. Furnish a Future, a program of The Partnership for the Homeless, provides free furniture to over 2,000 formerly homeless families in New York City. As families leave the shelters for their new apartments, they are often without any of the basic necessities they need to create a secure home and get back on their feet. It is our goal to help Furnish a Future turn empty apartment into homes. The Greater New York Home Furnishings Association and partners are teaming with Furnish a Future to look for furniture manufacturers, wholesalers, importers, home furnishings representatives, designers and retailers to join us un accomplishing this goal. We ask you to look in your warehouses, on your showroom floors, and in your hearts to give us what you can. The Massoods at MGM and the Corys at Cory Home Delivery Service have already committed to pick up and deliver furniture. Excess inventory, including odd pieces and casegoods needing only minor touch-up or repair will be accepted. Lamps are desperately needed. Upholstered products need to be in perfect or near perfect condition. Stan Cohen Furniture Repair has offered to do minor repairs and a high profile celebrity designer will act as spokesperson for the overall effort. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation or for more details call Barbara Goldstein at GNYHFA at 212-725-0091 or email gnyhfa6@aol.com. In addition to doing your part to help rebuild the lives of thousands of less fortunate families in New York City, your business will gain added visibility in the Partnership’s promotional materials, tax benefits from your donations, and new and unexpected floor space.
