Guided showroom tours open to the public are not the norm at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point. Exhibitors, buyers and press present registered passes to security officials for entrance into buildings that house a labyrinth of showrooms only open to the trade. However, at the April 2005 market, Taylor King was the gracious sponsor of Interiors by Decorating Den’s showroom tour, luncheon, presentation and fundraiser for the benefit of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The event raised over $4,000.00 for the foundation through the sale of tickets and other private donations. The event, entitled “A Day at the Market,” was a unique experience that afforded consumers a first-hand view of the Home Furnishings Market. In addition to the tour of the Taylor King showroom, guests enjoyed a catered lunch, a speech from a breast cancer survivor, and design tips from Carol Denayre Bugg, ASID of Interiors by Decorating Den. After lunch, guests were presented with gift bags that contained a copy of Ms. Bugg’s latest interior design book, and an autograph session concluded the afternoon. Ms. Bugg, Vice President and Director of Design for Interiors by Decorating Den, showed a series of before and after images of dramatic “Dream Room” makeovers created by the company’s network of decorators. Carol Bugg was introduced as the Diva of Design, but she made it clear that there are no Diva decorators with Interiors by Decorating Den. “Beyond offering clients fine products like those of Taylor King, one thing that sets us apart from others is our non-intimidating, approachable service. Our decorators provide everlasting beauty for our clients.” Carolyn Jordan, coordinator of the event, expressed that everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed the experience. Many guests requested to make the seminar an annual event. “Breast cancer touches many of our lives, whether it is our self, our mother, our sister, our daughter, or our friend,” Jordan said. “If we all join together, we become a viable force in finding a cure for this prevalent disease, perhaps in our lifetime."
