A couple of weeks ago we talked about how important it is to use testimonials to build credibility and get you more business.

There are many ways to use testimonials. Here are just a few.
  • Print up a sheet of testimonials. Attach It or include it in every mailing you put out.
  • Do one testimonial to a sheet in large type and put on a stand on your front counter where it can’t be missed by your guests. Put a few around your showroom as well.
  • Include at least one testimonial in each ad, post card, flyer, etc.
  • Include at least one testimonial on your business card.
  • Include at least one testimonial in your store brochure.
  • Include at least one testimonial in your yellow page ad.
  • Include at least one testimonial on your web site. Here you have plenty of room for as many as you have.

The best format for a testimonial is: “You guys are the best. John and Joan Smith. Anytown. MA.” The more specific the better. e.g. “You estimated 6 weeks to get my special order and it actually came in 4. We are so happy.” If you have a picture of the happy couple, even better.

Be sure you have the person’s consent. When I had my store I had a form for their comments with two boxes at the bottom they could check off. “You have my permission to use my comments in your marketing.” “Please do not use my comments in your marketing.” If you’d like me to send you that form, shoot me an email. Put Testimonial in the subject line.

How many testimonials do you need? As many as you can get.
