Vanguard Rolls Out its Occasional Table Program At The Las Vegas Market

Furniture World News Desk on 1/25/2019

Vanguard Furniture announces that after a highly successful test market, it has refined and is rolling out its revolutionary Make it Yours Occasional Table program nationwide at the Las Vegas Market.  Components are in-stock and available now for configuration, finishing and shipment.  Although every piece is unique and made by hand, it can be crafted and available for delivery in as little as six weeks.

Interior designers have helped to refine the offerings and create a platform for adding more shapes, sizes, materials and finishes. In furniture lexicon, Occasional Tables are typically defined as consoles, cocktail tables and end tables. They are the small pieces of furniture that make a big difference.  The scale, the materials and finishes need to be just right to complete a room.

This created a challenge of sophisticated customers and interior designers who refuse to take a cookie cutter approach to design and want to put a singular imprimatur on the lifestyle looks they create.  Ideally, fashion forward thinkers wanted to design tables from a blank slate. To that end Vanguard has created a program that is conceptually simple but offers mind-boggling choices.  While logistically complex to execute, the results are nothing less than amazing.

It works like this.  Start with a shape for the table top based on the function and space available.  The program offers six: Square, rectangular and circular cocktail sizes, round and square lamp/end table sizes, and console size.  Next, pick a base.  Vanguard offers 34, in a variety of materials including metal, wood and acrylic.  The choices range from modern, traditional or transitional designs.

Once you have decided on a base and top, choose from a collection of exotic materials for the table top.  There are a wide variety of choices including Amate, Onyx, Capiz, Coconut Fiber, Mango, Starburst Oak, Agate, Glass and Shagreen.  In addition, there are luxury composites that can take high gloss finishes in any color imaginable.  In deciding which materials to use for tops the Vanguard design team had a strict list of essentials.  It had to be fresh and unusual, visually stunning, flexible enough to craft into different shapes and sizes, and most importantly sustainable.   Vanguard is one of the founding members of the sustainable furniture council and protecting the environment is one of the core values of its culture.  This platform allows Vanguard to continually add new and exciting materials.

Finally, choose a finish.  Select from hundreds of finishes, if available on your selected base and top — standard stain, paint or metallic paint finish, MIY paint, artisan wood finish or premium leaf finish. One could make a bold statement with high contrast choices or go for an understated look with tone-on-tone or low contrasting personalized finish options.

Few manufacturers have the resources or skill to custom finish metal.  Standard base finishes include: textured bronze, dark bronze, textured iron, champagne and platinum leaf, acrylic and polished steel.  Each piece can be customized further by adding an optional embellishment such as highlight striping, pattern striping, sheen level option or distressing level.  Millions of possible permutations make it unlikely that anyone else will have one exactly like yours.

Andy Bray, Vanguard’s president commented, “two key factors that are driving our success are customization and unique materials.  High end retailers and designers alike have a compelling need to differentiate their offerings from the mass stores and to engage their clients in a collaborative design experience.  We want each piece to be a showpiece, tell a story, and to allow the end consumer to be highly engaged in the process.”  The Make it Yours Collections from Vanguard are the fastest growing styles because they appeal to our natural human inclination to create and are a tangible reminder of our self-expression.

Vanguard will be open for business on Sunday, January 27, the first day of market.  There will be a full display of these tables.
