Malouf Reports Successful Product Launch at Las Vegas Market

After putting the Winter Las Vegas Market in the books, Malouf, an upscale bedding accessories manufacturer, reported record showroom visitors. Malouf credits its success to new products released at the show; especially its Tencel sheet set which played a large role in its showroom display.

Leading a growing trend of soft, sustainable fibers from eco-friendly resources, the Tencel sheets stand out with a smooth hand and moisture management qualities. Brought about through its nanofibril structure, Tencel channels moisture away from the body making it 70 percent more absorbent than cotton and temperature neutral. While bamboo has traditionally been the poster child for natural fibers, Tencel sets a new standard in ecological production. As a botanical fiber, it is derived from raw material wood in an award-winning closed loop process.

“Tencel represents a new trend in textiles that utilizes natural resources for a high level of comfort,” said Mike Douglas, general manager at Malouf. “With the success of our bamboo sheets, we’re expecting the Tencel sheets to leave an impression in our product family due to its soft, eco-friendly properties. In addition, it’s a perfect bundle with our Tencel mattress protector and pillow covers.”

Retailers were particularly interested in Malouf’s Tencel sheets thanks to a very affordable price. Malouf also offers a bed protector and pillow covers featuring Tencel; adding Tencel sheets gives retailers an opportunity to make a complete Tencel-themed sell.

“We are very excited to start working with Malouf and anticipate our customers will be excited about the new Tencel sheets,” said Michelle Caragol, the owner of Steamboat, Colo.-based home design store, Moxie Design. “Within the next few years I think everyday customers will start asking for Tencel.”

Malouf also released two new pillows that extend the range of its Z pillow line. The Shredded Gel Dough pillow came with high expectations and is filled with clusters of shredded, gel-infused memory foam. Surrounding the shredded memory foam is a half inch layer of gel-infused memory foam to keep a consistent feel while maintaining the pillow’s ability to be shaped or molded.

Its first venture into down, Malouf debuted the Cotton Encased Down Blend pillow at the market. It features a plush down and feather blend fill to create a consistent, breathable loft. Encasing the pillow is a soft, thick layer of cotton filling to eliminate the feeling of sharp quills.

Malouf also built-up its line of bed frames with the debut of the Highrise LTH. Like Malouf’s other Highrise bed frames, it replaces the box spring and provides a stable foundation for all mattress materials. The Highrise LTH features 60 cubic feet of storage space, enough for a standard size tote to fit underneath.

Last summer Malouf completely redesigned and doubled their showroom space at the World Market Center to accommodate for growth, and it was just in time. Many visitors to Malouf’s showroom commented on the number of people constantly coming through its doors.

“There’s no such thing as a lull in Malouf’s showroom,” said Rob Johnson, an industry consultant who also works with Malouf. “I walked past and visited a lot of showrooms during the market and Malouf’s was always the busiest. There is a lot of buzz about Malouf, and for a good reason.”

Malouf shows at the Las Vegas Market in C-1540 during the winter and summer shows and will next be showing at their permanent spaces in New York City, High Point and Tupelo, among other temporary spaces.
