Whitewood Industries recently announced that it's Ready-To-Finish division as well as the company’s SELECT by John Thomas program has teamed up with up-and-coming design personality, and artist, Heather Daily, to bring DIY back to life through a series of “how-to” videos.

The company, founded in 1982, began as a supplier to, then popular, ready-to-finish furniture stores. However, over the past 30 plus years, the ready-to-finish furniture segment, as well as the company as a whole, evolved. The once sought after, ready-to-finish persona slowly diminished with shopper’s looking to purchase “off the shelf”.

According to Bryan Sprinkles, sales and marketing manager of John Thomas Furniture, through its association with Daily, the company seeks to latch on to the quickly emerging rebirth of DIY. Whitewood and John Thomas will be unleashing shopper’s inner designer through step-by-step videos demonstrating how to make home furnishings uniquely their own, or simply choose YOUR STYLE, YOUR COLOR, YOUR WAY and John Thomas will create it.

“Over the past years we’ve evolved into a progressive company with a wide range of unfinished, prefinished, and custom finished products. Our custom finish SELECT program has significantly experienced the most growth, and quickly,” notes Sprinkles. “The growth of this program demonstrates that shoppers want personalized furnishings, the way they want them and SELECT gives them that option. With Heather we’re going to take that to the next level, starting with Whitewood. We’re not just going to inspire shoppers. We’re going to ‘teach’ them how to make their own masterpieces. We’re going to unleash their inner designer.”

In association with Whitewood and John Thomas Furniture, contracted artist to the home furnishings industry, Heather Daily, will bring her philosophy of everyone's home being a unique reflection of their personality, to life, through a collection of videos themed Heather Teaches How.

In Heather Teaches How, Heather will take an unfinished furniture piece from whoa-to-wow, through a series of 1-2-3 steps. The intention is to show shoppers the many possibilities, inspire them, and most importantly, teach them that the impossible, is in fact possible.

The first video will premier this April, with subsequent videos premiering bi-monthly. They’ll be hosted via youtube and shared with Whitewood and John Thomas dealers through social media. Retailers will be permitted, and encouraged, to share the videos with their community as well.

“We’re very excited about working with Heather on this project,” states Sprinkles. “She is extremely talented, has a magnetic personality, and is passionate about inspiring people through art. Her vision aligns perfectly with ours.”

John Thomas Furniture will host a reception introducing Heather to dealers and the design community where Heather will begin working on her first piece. The event is by open invitation and will be held at their 215 South Main Street showroom, Monday April 16th at 5:00. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served.
