Scott Morgan Design Scholarship Expanded to Furniture Design Students at SCAD

Furniture World News Desk on 4/19/2018

The Board of Directors of the Scott Morgan Scholarship Fund reports that it has added SCAD to its program offering a $5,000 award to a rising furniture design student of exceptional talent and promise. The Savannah, Ga.-based university, is a global leader in higher education dedicated to preparing students for successful careers in art, design and architecture.

Intended to fuel a passion for home furnishings product design and development embodied in the late Morgan’s nearly 40-year career in contemporary furniture design, the scholarship additionally reflects the longtime support and mentoring he gave to aspiring young furniture designers. Awards have been presented to three students from Pratt Institute since 2015. The 2018 award recipient will be announced next month.

The Fund was created shortly before Morgan’s death in September 2013 as a vehicle for business colleagues, friends and family to honor his contributions to the home furnishings industry. The Board gratefully acknowledges the extremely generous continued contributions by contemporary furnishings producer BDI to support donations to the fund from other notable individuals and companies.
