Legends Sets Succession Strategy

To help create a path for future retirement, Rick Schmidgall, the founder and owner of Legends Furniture, has formed a partnership with one time Legends’ employee turned entrepreneur, Chris Dockter.  
Chris was the Director of Imports for Legends from 2002 to 2007.  He helped develop the Import division before moving on to build his own successful sourcing and manufacturing business.

Rick chose this partnership with Dockter for a few reasons, one being his experience at Legends. “The time he spent with us gave him critical insight as to the family-like culture here and over the years Chris has remained part of the Legends family.  I also appreciate his business savvy and like-mindedness,” Schmidgall said.  He went on to explain that the deciding factor for him was that Chris is a man of honor and integrity.  “Chris has a big heart and genuinely cares about his employees,” Rick concluded, “He’s exactly the type of person I’d like to see carry on the Legends legacy after my retirement.”

Rick and Chris both look forward to visiting with customers and friends alike, at the upcoming High Point market.
