Hooker Furniture recently announced that it will launch Novella, their newest whole home collection at the April High Point Market.

Inspired by the luxury resorts perched high upon the rugged seaside bluffs of the Northern California coastline, the 47-piece collection includes bedroom, dining room, occasional and home office pieces. Crafted of highly figured black walnut, the group’s distinctive bleached finish offers an organic sensibility that tastefully juxtaposes with its polished stainless steel accents and hardware that deliver a touch of glam.

“The combination of modern styling with natural elements embody an authentic California aesthetic,” said Pat Watson, vice president of merchandising at Hooker Furniture. “That said, the collection’s level of sophistication takes it beyond just a coastal look. While the lighter finish and organic elements evoke a casual feeling, the eclectic range of luxurious materials, shapes and textures evoke an updated and elegant character throughout, resulting in a style that will appeal to consumers in all regions of the country.”

Characterized by an unexpected mix of organic and opulent materials, the group features stone, bamboo, raffia, polished stainless steel accents and a variety of statement-making hardware including ring pulls, pendant pulls and over scaled open circular pulls. The materials are cast upon bleached, highly figured black walnut in two finishes: Sunsplash, which offers a striking contrast to the glam elements found on several pieces and French Vanilla, used in tandem with

Sunsplash and applied to elements such as raffia and bamboo on several bedroom and dining room pieces to create an eclectic range of looks.

Novella is headlined by a wood sleigh bed with a starburst veneer pattern in the headboard and an upholstered shelter bed that features vertical channel tufting on the headboard. Coordinating pieces include a five-drawer chest, nine-drawer dresser, a linen-wrapped portrait mirror and a bachelor’s chest with a mirrored front.

Dining room pieces include 60-inch round and 82-inch rectangular dining tables, which coordinate with dining chairs that feature woven raffia. Upholstered chairs also are available, including one model with vertically channeled tufting on the back.  Two host chairs in the collection allow both the raffia and upholstered chair looks to be dressed up.

Other key pieces are a unique bar cabinet that features doors covered in faux bamboo in a radiating starburst motif, and an entertainment console with a similar motif, with randomized bamboo accents.
The Novella collection can be seen in Hooker Furniture’s High Point showroom, space C-1058 of the International Home Furnishings Center. The market takes place April 6-10.
