Dorel Home Products (DHP), the home furnishings division of Dorel Industries, announced that it will launch a line of natural mattresses that features chemical-free and a variety of natural and organic ingredients. The new product marks the company’s first foray into the growing natural-inspired sleep market.
Named Signature Sleep Honest, handcrafted in California, the lineup includes an adult and a crib mattress that are targeted to consumers across several demographic groups that have shown they’re willing to purchase products that include more naturally-sourced materials.
The line, launched at the Spring 2019 High Point Market, follows on the heels of DHP’s successful introduction of Signature Sleep Reset last fall. Reset is designed with Nanobionic technology in the outer mattress fabric, which helps to restore the body’s energy, helps to promote a temporary increase in local blood flow and helps to promote a better night’s sleep.
“Our newest mattress collection is hand crafted and made with the finest natural ingredients, 100 percent certified organic materials, and available without chemical fire retardants. The Honest collection will enable us to reach the growing segment of environmentally conscious consumers who want natural products in their home without sacrificing on comfort. We look forward to expanding the Honest offering in the second half of 2019,” said Nick Fiore, vice president of sales, marketing and product development at DHP.
Signature Sleep Honest features an adult mattress with a micro-coil core, cushioned with natural wool and organic cotton. The wool, which has moisture-wicking properties that help regulate body temperature, serves as a natural fire barrier, so no fire-retardant chemicals are needed. The mattress, retailing at $599 in queen size, comes with a machine-washable mattress protector infused with aloe vera fibers, which nourish the skin and help to speed up the regeneration process.
The crib mattress, which retails for $299, features an organic cotton fabric cover and a natural wool layer for ultimate comfort. The core is made with natural coconut coir, which are fibers extracted from the husk of a coconut, to offer firm support. It comes with a mattress protector that is waterproof and made of 100 percent organic cotton.
Both mattresses carry the Okeo-Tex Standard 100 certification, which tests for harmful chemicals in textiles. The cotton found in the adult mattress is USDA Organic certified, while the cotton in the crib mattress is certified as organic by GOTS, the Global Organic Textile Standard.
DHP’s High Point showroom is space 9A of the C&D Building.
