Atlanta Attachment to Unveil Productivity-Boosting Workstations at Interzum

Furniture World News Desk on 5/17/2019

Atlanta Attachment Company announced that it will unveil a pair of work stations that help reduce operator fatigue and boost productivity at this month’s Interzum furniture production and interior design trade fair in Cologne, Germany, May 21-24.

The company, a division of HSM, will unveil a border boxing workstation for sewing seat cushion covers that significantly reduces downtime when changing width, weight and type of fabric being sewn. Also on display will be a flanger for mattress panel production that automatically cuts and re-inserts the flange.

“Today’s operators demand superior ergonomics and ease of use, and our customers want improved productivity, so these newest machines are a win-win,” said Hank Little, president of Atlanta Attachment. “They reduce operator fatigue – both mentally and physically – and allow factories to quickly adapt to manufacturing changes.”

Key features of the border boxing workstation include tool-free adjustments to the puller and the sewing head, an ergonomically sound foot pedal that allows for precise speed control and a sliding folder assembly that streamlines the process for threading the sewing head. Adding to productivity, operators do not need hand scissors to cut apart the pieces of the border for machines equipped with an optional photocell controlled cutter.

In addition to the automatic flange cutting, the mattress panel flanger features a power conveyor belt that positions the panel for loading and unloading. The conveyor can be synchronized with stitch length which allows for easy adjustments to corner positioning and turning.

“Both of these new workstations allow the operator to focus on sewing, so they are not distracted by the need for constant adjustments,” said Little. “This builds self-confidence and improves the quality and quantity of work.”
