Pleasant Mattress CEO named to Fresno Chaffee Zoo Board

Independent bedding manufacturer Pleasant Mattress recently announced that Rion Morgenstern, president and CEO, was recently named to the board of directors of Fresno Chaffee Zoo. The nine-member board is responsible for setting the direction of what has become one of the nation’s preeminent zoos. Morgenstern was selected for the post because of his reputation as a visionary marketer. Pleasant Mattress’ philosophy of giving back and supporting the community continues the family vision developed by his father Herb Morgenstern, chairman of the company.

Fresno Chaffee Zoo is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Located on 39 acres within Roeding Park in Fresno, California, the zoo sees more than 825,000 visitors annually and has been doubled in size over the past 15 years thanks to Measure Z, a sales tax initiative approved by the voters in 2004 and 2014. Measure Z has helped transform Fresno Chaffee Zoo into a world-class zoo.
In 2015, the zoo opened African Adventure; a 19-acre addition that brought African elephants, lions, rhinos, meerkats and more to the zoo. The next large-scale project on the horizon, is Kingdoms of Asia. This exhibit will transform the interior of the zoo and transport the visitors to the jungles of Asia and will house tigers, orangutans, sloths, bears and komodo dragons.
