Spring Air Resumes Domestic Manufacturing As States Reopen

Furniture World News Desk on 6/23/2020

As states across the country begin to allow manufacturers to reopen and ramped up production following the shutdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Spring Air International announced that its factories are returning to full capacity. Along with the re-openings, the company is anticipating an uptick in domestic sales from bedding brands and retailers that had been importing but are now looking for a  domestic producer that could fill supply chains because of the anti-dumping petition currently being adjudicated in Washington.

Spring Air’s 10-facility network offers a full domestic footprint through independently owned factories.

“We’re glad to be back in production after the multi-state shutdowns that impacted each of our licensing partners,” said Nick Bates, president of Spring Air International. “As we re-open to meet the needs of our retail partners, the U.S. bedding industry remains embroiled in its anti-dumping battle and leaves a number of mattress marketers scrambling to shore up their supply chains to keep product flowing to retailers. We have received a significant number of inquiries from leading bedding importers who are looking for alternatives to off-shore sources in light of the anti-dumping petition. We see a great opportunity to fill that need efficiently through our family of factories.”

That increased demand from retailers and mattress vendors eager to find production in the U.S. has created backlogs and seven-day work weeks for the company’s manufacturing partners, Bates said, adding that he doesn’t see the increased penchant for domestic goods as a blip on the radar.

“The international supply chain is challenging right now, which means retailers and importers will be on the prowl for domestic partners for some time to come,” Bates said. “That bodes well for the Spring Air International network, which is ready to meet the demand.”
