Darvin Furniture & Mattress promotes Karla Niemiec to Upholstery Buyer

Darvin Furniture & Mattress has promoted Karla Niemiec to Upholstery Buyer for the 102-year-old company. Niemiec, who has been an assistant upholstery buyer for 14 years with the iconic Chicagoland furniture retailer, has already begun the transition process involved with taking over the responsibilities at Darvin Furniture. She will report directly to Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris.

An employee of Darvin Furniture & Mattress for more than 31 years, Niemiec started as a cashier and then moved on to a credit department pricing coordinator position until stepping into the role and learning the inner workings associated with upholstery.

"I worked directly with Steve Darvin in upholstery. He taught me everything I know," says Niemiec. "It means everything to me to have the faith and trust Will Harris and Steve and Marty Darvin have put in me."

As the Darvin upholstery buyer, Niemiec says she will be responsible for going to market, selecting products, merchandising, and making sure items are in stock. "I really enjoy the process of going to market and seeing the product, it's very exciting," she says.

"Karla has been such an inspiration to so many here at Darvin," says Harris. "She has worked hard and to see it pay off for her now is very rewarding for all of us who know what a great job she will do. Under Steve Darvin's tutelage, she has become an outstanding talent that will help us thrive as we continue to grow the Darvin brand.
