Informa and IMM Cologne Announce Cooperation Agreement

Furniture World News Desk on 12/23/2015

Informa, the organizer of Dwell on Design, and Koelnmesse signed a cooperation agreement earlier this year to further internationalize the design event. With around 30,000 visitors and 350 exhibitors, Dwell on Design is one of the largest design trade fairs in the US. The common goal of both partners is to further globalize this event. "For Koelnmesse, this cooperation is an important step in expanding our global position in the field of interiors and design," said Arne Petersen, Vice President of Trade Fair Management. "As one of the most lively and most progressive trade fairs for furnishing and designing, IMM Cologne wants to not only increase its international importance, but also profile itself to an even greater extent in the fields of product development and trends in interior design. Together with Dwell, we want to bring together the best architects, designers and products under one roof for the American market".

“This new collaboration with IMM Cologne illustrates Informa’s commitment to grow the international footprint of Dwell on Design, which was acquired by Informa earlier this year. We are honored to add IMM’s incredible design and interiors lifestyle approach to Dwell on Design in Los Angeles,” said Dana Teague, Informa Global Exhibitions Vice President.

Amanda Dameron, Chief Editor of Dwell on Design, and Dick Spierenburg, Creative Director of IMM Cologne will be responsible for program content at future trade events. An important project planned for next year's event is the presentation of "Das Haus - Interiors on Stage". The project looks at contemporary furnishing trends, but also the aspirations and social change. "Das Haus" is therefore both a designer portrait as well as a visionary blueprint, an example of how we can create our own world as an expression of our personality. "Das Haus" will be designed by Sebastian Herkner next year.

The agreement also offers international companies the chance to enter one of the most promising furniture markets in the world. The American furniture market is one of the strongest growing markets in the world, with an import volume of around $27 billion USD. Many new aspects arise for exhibiting companies.
