Las Vegas Market Hosts Housewares Design Awards Celebration

Las Vegas Market recently announced that it will host the 13th Housewares Design Awards Celebration, the premier awards program focused on housewares design innovation, on Tuesday, January 30, during the Winter 2018 Las Vegas Market. The 2018 event will encompass an industry networking opportunity, as well as a celebration of finalists, announcement of winners and presentation of the Design Influencer of the Year Award.

“Las Vegas Market is delighted to celebrate creativity and innovation in the housewares industry by hosting the Housewares Design Awards,” said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift Leasing and Chief Marketing Officer, International Market Centers. “This event extends our commitment to expansion of gift-oriented housewares, tabletop and specialty food resources and also demonstrates our dedication to the housewares industry overall.”

The Celebration is presented by HomeWorld Business, hosted by Las Vegas Market and sponsored by Whitford. During the event, some 55 finalists will be recognized, and 11 “Best in Category” winners will be announced. From the Best in Category winners, a trio of “Best of the Best” overall products — Gold, Silver and Bronze winners – also will be revealed. Additionally, the second annual “Design Influencer of the Year” award will be presented to Joanne Domeniconi, co-founder and chief discovery officer of The Grommet.

The product finalists in the core awards categories were selected by an independent panel of 12 judges representing product designers, design educators, gourmet retailers and design editors. Products were tested, reviewed and rated based on four criteria: appropriate aesthetics; innovative materials and technology; user benefits (i.e., performance, comfort, ease of use, safety); and marketability.

On Tuesday, January 30, a networking reception on C11 will be hosted from 5 to 6 p.m. against the backdrop of a special display spotlighting the 2018 finalist products. The Awards Ceremony will be presented from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in C154. Tickets, which include specialty cocktails and a dessert buffet, are $25 per person.
