Ashley HomeStore’s Hope to Dream Program Exceeds 50,000 Beds Donated to Children in Need

Ashley recently reported that Ashley HomeStore’s Hope to Dream program celebrates seven years of providing the gift of sleep to deserving children. With the help of dedicated volunteers, partners, and customers, Hope to Dream has donated more than 50,000 beds since the program began in 2010.

Ashley HomeStore believes that every child deserves a good night’s sleep. The Hope to Dream program provides beds to less fortunate children across the U.S. and Canada. A portion of the proceeds for every mattress purchased at one of the 435 participating Ashley HomeStores helps pay for beds for children in need.

Since its inception, Hope to Dream and Ashley HomeStore have partnered with numerous organizations including: United Way, Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, NFL, NBA and Minor League teams and local school districts. These partnerships allow Hope to Dream to host once-in-a-lifetime events for the kids, such as stadium sleepovers, Disneyland outings, baseball games and more.

Hope to Dream’s goal for 2017 was to exceed 50,000 beds donated, a more than 10,000 bed increase from 2016. The organization will close out this year with a total of just over 12,000 beds donated. In honor of their seventh anniversary, Hope to Dream has planned events across the country all month long. The goal for 2018 is to impact the lives of at least 15,000 more children by providing them with beds and a good night’s sleep.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 13 million children in the United States live in poverty. Many of these children’s’ families are unable to provide basic necessities, including a bed to sleep in. A study by the American Psychological Association describes the relationship between poor sleep and lower academic performance, emotional turmoil and behavioral problems that adversely affected success at school. Patterns of poor sleep established in childhood and adolescence continue into adulthood with serious consequences for health and well-being. For these reasons, Hope to Dream is proud to provide children in need with a bed and, most importantly, a place to dream.

Hope to Dream has held close to 60 events over the past seven years. A few of this year’s event highlights include a Harvest Festival for kids in Sacramento, CA, Clearwater Threshers game and party with the team, Miami Dolphins stadium sleepover and a Disneyland day of fun for the whole family!
