Bedding company Malouf reports that it has raised $120,726 at its Forging Freedom event at Las Vegas Market. On Jan. 28, Malouf invited its partners and friends to its showroom space at the World Market Center to learn about the vast and growing global issue of child sex trafficking and to raise funds to support rescue missions, survivor aftercare and education, and law enforcement training.

“We’re so grateful for all the people that came out to the event,” said CEO Sam Malouf. “I think people came away with a better understanding of how big the problem is, and how much hope exists among the children we are helping. We truly appreciate the assistance to the cause.”

During the event, Operation Underground Railroad founder Tim Ballard talked about his experiences assisting law enforcement agencies in the rescue of children from sex trafficking rings around the world and how aftercare helps survivors look forward to the future.

“All of you came out here tonight to learn about what we are doing to combat human trafficking, and what we can all do to help these kids,” Ballard said. “There are millions of children out there and, until we all know about them, until we all do something, it’s not going to go away.”

Jessica Mass, director of aftercare for O.U.R., spoke for the child survivors she works with every day in aftercare centers.

“I’ve sat with hundreds of children around the world, and I often hear them say, ‘Who are these people that care about us? Who are these people that have donated their money, their time, their energy?’” said Mass. “And just by you being here, you are those people.”

Prior to the fundraising event, Malouf announced that $5 from the sale of each scented ActiveDough pillow will support the Malouf Foundation’s efforts to combat child trafficking.
