One Kings Lane Launches Platform For Online Print and Pattern Furniture Customization

Furniture World News Desk on 10/17/2018

One Kings Lane, the digital-first destination for making your home an expression of your personal style, announced the launch of Palette by One Kings Lane, the home industry’s newest innovation in print and pattern customization for upholstery furniture.

In partnership with the print-on-demand furniture brand, Cloth & Company, Palette by One Kings Lane uses new technology to make customizing furniture easier and more affordable. The new program allows customers to create their own unique pieces with personalization capabilities that have not been offered in furniture online. Palette combines the ability to customize color and scale within an assortment of patterns, along with accessible price points, short lead times and complimentary shipping.

To create a user-friendly, interactive customization experience, One Kings Lane worked with Bed Bath & Beyond Inc.’s Innovations Group to develop the 3D product visualization technology and partnered with Cloth & Company to bring Palette’s customization capabilities to life. Cloth & Company uses digital design and state-of-the-art digital printing technology to produce custom products that are shipped to the consumer in three weeks – a “click-to-ship” timeframe unmatched in the industry.

Exclusive to One Kings Lane, Palette takes customers through four key steps to design their own furniture pieces:

  1. Pick Your Frame & Pattern - Customers choose from 15 frame options, including headboards, chairs, settees, benches, ottomans and pillows. There are 8 patterns to choose from, ranging from a traditional chinoiserie motif to playful florals and modern stripes.

  2. Create Your Color Combination - A ‘Picker Palette’ allows customers to create their own color combinations within each pattern, giving them the ability to truly make the design their own. An assortment of pre-set color combinations are also available.

  3. Scale Your Pattern - After finalizing the pattern, customers will be able to alter the scale with a small, medium and large option.

  4. Pick Your Hardware - The last step gives customers the ability to choose their finishes, from legs to nailhead trim.

“The decision to build this platform has been inspired by our customers’ desire to bring their unique personal style point of view into their homes. Given all of the feedback we’ve heard from our customers, it was a natural step for us to develop Palette as a way to make upholstery customization easier and more accessible than ever before,” said Debbie Propst, President of One Kings Lane. “We know that consumers truly value the ability to participate in the designing of their own products, and we are thrilled to now be able to expand audiences with this unique new level of customization.”

“We recognize how invested today’s consumer is when it comes to individuality and design in the home space. These elements and the increasingly high expectations on delivery times have been a focus for Cloth & Company since its inception,” said Meganne Wecker, founder of Cloth & Company. "We are thrilled to partner with One Kings Lane for Palette to make truly unique customization an affordable reality for consumers. As an industry leader in style focused design and innovative retail strategies, One King Lane is the ultimate partner for Cloth & Company's speed-to-market customization technology."

In addition to onekingslane.com, customers will be able to use Palette at One Kings Lane’s Soho flagship, set to open later this month. An interactive Palette workstation will allow customers to use the new platform in person, while providing access to a range of physical samples. Palette will also be available at launch as a co-branded experience with One Kings Lane’s parent company, Bed Bath & Beyond, through its website, www.bedbathandbeyond.com.
