Classic Sleep Products has appointed well-known retailer Harry Goodman to the newly created position of vice president of northeastern sales. Goodman spent the last decade helping build mattress retailer Sleepy’s expand its brand as its vice president of sales.

The appointment of Goodman comes a few months after Classic turned to retail veteran Justin Gannon to head its sales organization, from Mattress Discounters where he headed merchandising and marketing. Goodman will report to Gannon.

“Harry brings a wealth of expertise and contacts in the northeast and we are quite pleased to have him on our team,” said Gannon. “This is the first of several key initiatives we are implementing as we plan our growth for the future. Over the next several months we will be reshaping all facets of our business to become a stronger player in the bedding industry.”

According to Classic Sleep Products President Michael Zippelli, the decision to add Goodman plays into the manufacturer’s strategy that a strong retailer will better understand the merchandise and training needs of their colleagues.

“There is no question that with Justin from Mattress Discounters and Harry from Sleepy’s we are fielding some of the best players in the mattress retail business. They were both key executives who can deliver that same expertise to our clients and help them grow their businesses,” said Zippelli.

Prior to joining Sleepy’s, Goodman was area manager for Fabric Bonanza in Hicksville, N.Y. and northeast regional sales manager for Big & Tall Shops in Brockton, MA.

Goodman is a graduate of the State University of New York in Albany where he received his bachelor’s degree in psychology.

He resides with his family in Coram, N.Y.
